Help with Rent, Security Deposit, Utility Bills

Many people come here in need of help with rent, security deposits and help with utlility bills to name a few. Althought this won't solve everyone's problems it may help some.

Here are some places you may recieve help and remember that many people apply so you take a chance and hope your needs are meet to some degree.

http://www.modestneeds.org/

Has helped with rent and car repair before from a few people I know. You can apply on line to see if they can help you and if you meet the qualifications.

 http://www.microgiving.com/

Is another source for assistance and I know of  three people here that have applied and know a person very active with the with the organization.

http://www.svdpusa.org/Contact.aspx

Here are a few of the programs they St. Vincent de Pauls helps out with. See the link for your nearest one to see if and what they can help you with. There are more programs they help out with at the link above.

# Food programs
# Emergency financial assistance
# Emergency transportation
# Disaster relief and victim services
# Rent/mortgage assistance
# Low-cost housing

http://www.grantedwish.org/index.cfm

I have applied here before and it is a one time shot at applying. They were not able to help me but read the stories to see if they can help you.

 http://www.wishuponahero.com/

You can make up to three wishes and best if they are under $100 each. You can check the catagories to see which you like to put your wish in.

Then I found a place JewishFamilyServices and if you put those words into google.com for your nearest one they may be able to help you. One person on this site came from Indiana to California and they helped with a security deposit and the security deposit they recieved was under $500.

ON UTILITIES: Phone, electric and gas. Call your local companies for each as they all have a program for low income people and be sure to get on them if you meet their requirements. I have been on the program and off them since living in California.  Remember to turn off what you aren't using and unplug things like microwave that you aren't using as they do draw energy when plugged in...

http://www.treeofwishes.com/

 http://www.cyberbeg.com/

The last two I tried long ago but never stuck with them. You can try them.

Then you can always apply for hud housing, section8 or housing authority and get on the waiting list.

If you need more information see my blog at

Wishing us all the best during these tough times to get the help we need.

Take care everyone and be sure to help your neighbors in some way...

Help to pay utilities in New Jersey

I wanted to share some information I received from another site I belong to. I was informed that in New Jersey they have a program called Universal Service Fund that pays your electric bill each month.  I suggest you go online and download the application to apply for it.  Meanwhile go to your local salvation army and ask them to help you pay the bill as well.  God bless and good luck.

About moma5

I am a single mother of 5 beautiful active children. I have three boys and two girls ranging from 5 months to 10 years. I have some college credits and would love to eventually get a degree in business. I would like to network with other people with similar age children for play, mom's night outs, babysitting tradeoffs, resources, clothing, and other things that are not otherwise accessible to people who are low income like myself. I am also looking for a sewing machine to make and repair my children's clothes and I want to make purses and sell them; and am currently sewing by hand (very slow).

I am currently on an extended unpaid leave from work due to my ADHD son and the inability to find adequate childcare for him and my 5 month old. This has led me to a very bad financial place. We are behind on everything (my water will be shut off tomorrow) and running out of basic necessities. I have been trying to look into work at home opportunities but they all seem like scams. I do receive some help for food and rent from two agencies, but they have yet to "work the change" as they put it; of me not working since 9/28/07. My rent is still almost $600 and I have no way to pay for utilities, household items, shoes, school uniforms, and don't get me started on Christmas or Birthdays. I was severely depressed several years ago and it made things so much worse back then and would really like to network as I stated above with others. I have found that being in poverty increases depression and the willpower to find a way out of the bad situation. I have also noticed that utility cost has skyrocketed and funding is slim to none in most areas. Anyone else?

Lastly I would like to say that I will be going through my girls' clothing for winter to see what fits. I ALWAYS give the clothes to others that need them. There are some really nice things and some things are only for play. Resale shops don't pay enough to waste the gas and I hope to have the favor returned. I have already given away all the boys' clothes I can sorry. My friends have boys. God bless and good luck to you.

I don't know what to do

I recently became a single mother.  Because of the breakup, I have lost my car to repossession, am behind in both my rent and my utilities and do not have enough income to pay the bills and survive on a day to day basis.
My credit has been ruined because I allowed myself to be named as a co-borrower on several credit cards and a loan, the primary person on these cards/loans has NOT done any thing to fix the situation.  Having my credit ruined has left me in the situation of not knowing how I am going to be able to take care of my child, provide housing and food, or even take her to and from school.  We live in a very rural area that has no public transportation, not even a taxi service, and because of losing my car, we can't even get to the market unless we walk or hitch a ride.  The closest town is 13 miles away, so walking is out of the question.
I just don't know what to do and am trying to find any help tht I can.
Thank you
